Contact MeEconomy: Roseau County has a total population of approximately 15,000 people and includes the communities of Warroad, Roosevelt, Badger, Greenbush, Strathcona and Wannaska. The two largest employers in the county are Polaris Industries Inc. in the city of Roseau and Marvin Windows located in Warroad, MN (20 miles east of Roseau). Agriculture plays a vital in role in the county's economy as well. There are approximately 2,200 farms in Roseau County with a total of about 527,000 acres of farmland. Extensive production of wheat, bluegrass, canola and other cash grains are grown.
Recreational Opportunities: Roseau is the gateway to the Northwest Angle and island country of Lake of the Woods. Lake of the Woods has over 14,000 islands and over 65,000 miles of shoreline. In addition to excellent fishing, Lake of the Woods offers hunting, camping, canoeing, sailing and the opportunity to cruise and explore a most scenic and wonderful area. Roseau County offers terrific outdoor recreational activities in the vast publicly owned wildlife management areas, state forests and Hayes Lake State Park, whether it is big game hunting, hiking, swimming, camping, fishing, wildlife watching or just plain enjoying nature in this uncrowded setting. There are challenging golf courses which are located in Roseau, Greenbush and Warroad.
Hospitals: Roseau Area Hospital & Homes, Inc., a non-profit organization, provides quality health care services with a 37 bed primary acute care facility, offering medical, surgical, coronary intensive care and OB services. Sheltering Oaks Nursing Home provides skilled nursing service to its 64 residents. Greenbush Community Nursing Home provides for 60 intermediate and skilled care residents. Area medical clinics include the Altru Clinic in Roseau, the Northland Clinic in Warroad , the Greenbush Community Clinic and the Greenbush Clinic.
